Select Admissions Programs

There are special admission requirements in a number of New River CTC programs; these requirements can be found on each program’s page in this catalog and on our website. Students are encouraged to talk with faculty in the program area for more information.

If a student is applying to a select admit program, they must first complete general admission requirements  and become fully admitted (all requested documents submitted and on file). Next, a student will need to meet any additional admission, retention or program requirements in effect at the time they are accepted and change their major to that program, regardless of the length of time enrolled as a general college student.

Admission to the College does not ensure your entry into specific programs, nor does it imply eligibility to enroll in a particular course with established pre-requisites or to enter a Select Admission Program that has a limited number of spaces and certain minimum entrance requirements.

Background and Drug Screening as a Program Admission Requirement

Students enrolling in certain programs are subject to background and/or drug screening. Check the catalog page for your program to see if this is required for the program you are pursuing. See New River Community and Technical College Procedures 41 and 44 at www.newriver.edu under Faculty and Staff - Human Resources - New River Procedures for more information.
