MAST 106 - Fundamentals of Medical Assisting

3 Credit Hours

This course introduces the profession of Medical Assisting, including the medical record, OSHA Standards, standards precautions, medical asepsis, sterilization, and disinfection. Students will develop skills necessary to assist the physician in the examination and treatment of patients, including recording the medical history, vital signs, anatomical positions for procedures and examinations, documentation of care, as well as assisting in minor office procedures and patient education/preparation for specific procedures, diagnostic tests and exams.
