Elementary Education, AS

The Associate of Science Elementary Education program at New River Community and Technical College prepares students in both programmatic and general studies courses to transfer at junior (third year) status into an elementary teacher education program at a baccalaureate institution. Graduates of this program can also use the degree to obtain and enhance their teacher’s aide credentials for required continuing education experience. This program of study promotes high-quality learning by connecting state and federal policy with theory, practice, technology, and pedagogy. New River Community and Technical College nurtures a diverse and dynamic education profession by supporting preservice teachers who will educate all elementary school learners.
